POONCH/JAMMU, July 29: First batch of 1321 pilgrims of Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra, mostly from Rajasthan and Gujarat States, arrived Poonch this evening.
The pilgrims including 706 males and 563 females in 28 buses and ten light motor vehicles, reached the base camp at Poonch, where Deputy Commissioner, TA Zargar, SSP Rajiv Pandey, Brigade Commander Brig AS Pandarkar, members of SD Sabha, Bajrang Dal and VHP besides members of Reception Committee received the yatra. They were accorded grand reception.
In Jammu, on the first day of the Yatra, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr MK Bhandari, flanked by top leaders of Bajrang Dal and VHP flagged off the Yatra at 5.30 am from the first base camp Bhagawati Nagar. Dr Surinder Jain, All India joint general secretary of BD, was leading the first batch.

At Akhnoor, the pilgrims visited Pandvas cave, Shiva temples at Jia Pota Ghat at the bank of river Chenab. At Sunderbani, they were received by locals led by 1008 Swami Vishavatmanand Saraswati ji Maharaj. After having breakfast there, they left for Rajouri where DIG Deepak Salathia, SSP and DC besides other prominent persons of the town received them. After having lunch at Rajouri, they were received at Bhimber Gali and where SDM Mendhar Rahul Yadav, SDPO Riaz Tantray and senior Army officers and prominent people of the area received them and offered tea and snacks.
After night stay at Poonch, the pilgrims will leave for Mandi town where shrine of Budha Amarnath ji is located. After having darshan and paying obeisance at the shrine, they will return to Sunderbani for night halt. The day after tomorrow, they will leave for Shiv Khori shrine in Reasi and the same day in the evening, they will reach the base camp at Jammu.
