JAMMU, Aug 25: A deputation of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) led by Ajay Gupta, Chairman Social Justice Committee of JMC along with JMC Councillors-Ritu Choudhary and Dinesh Gupta met Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department regarding the matter pertaining to pension schemes.
The Commissioner Secretary was apprised about difficulties being faced by the downtrodden masses of J&K in getting benefits of pension schemes implemented by the Government for helping destitute families.
Furthermore, it was also discussed that the age criteria for widow pension scheme which is 40 years should be lowered as young widows belonging to destitute families do not have much means to make their ends meet.
After listening to the issues the Commissioner Secretary accepted that these are genuine problems of the people.
She assured to forward the proposal with higher authorities and will find a solution at an earliest to provide relief to the needy families.
Issue regarding bifurcation and conversion of ration cards was also discussed in which it was decided that a joint meeting with CAPD Department and Divisional Commissioner Jammu needs to be held to find out the solution.
