If Pakistan is getting isolated in international community, it is not of India’s choosing it is her own choosing. For too long a time, India tolerated Pakistan’s perfidious acts of hostility and vindictiveness. A responsible member of international community observes certain norms of bilateral and multilateral behavior, most of which are inherited as tradition rather than written document. In olden times, countries exchanged emissaries and conducted bilateral trade but they had not set up any international or bilateral protocol; they simply went by the tradition. Even powerful monarchies and empires observed the established norms. But in the case of Pakistan, a country raised on communal hatred and vengeance, she has made anti-India stance its article of faith.
Finally the day has come when she must be prepared to bear the brunt of reaction to her actions. Note that our country’s retaliatory action is not anything said and done under a shroud of secrecy. The Prime Minister declared it in his Independence Day speech. He said that terrorism will be challenged and proper action will be taken. Today we see one after the other retaliatory action is taken and the noticeable thing is that the world community does not come out to pontificate maintenance of restraint and not precipitate the matters. The reason is that India has given more than desirable proof of her patience and restraint and the world community acknowledges.
India will not participate in the 19th SAARC Summit in Islamabad in November. Three more countries, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Afghanistan have also declined to participate. So the SAARC collapses. Imagine the intransigence of Pakistan that she played a role vis-a-vis India which deprived other SAARC countries in the region of the benefits they would have obtained from India in a number of ways like trade, technology, scientific discoveries, medicine, navigational facilities and road connectivity etc. Pakistan was included among the beneficiaries. This shows that Pakistan is not only inimical to India, something that has gone deep into its DNA, but also other SAARC countries.
The era of relentless deniability to which Pakistan regime stuck all these years is over. Leave India alone, Afghanistan and United States– the traditional ally of Pakistan, too, have come out in open to accuse Pakistan of giving sanctuaries to the terrorists and murderers and lending them diplomatic, moral and ideological support to perpetrate atrocities on her neighboring countries, India and Afghanistan. Successive warning from the US, and more importantly the blatant warning from the European Parliament of imposing economic and political sanctions on her if she did not desist from violating human rights of Baluchs are clear indications of her isolation. For decades nobody was listening to the cries and supplication of Baluch people of how they are oppressed and suppressed, how their human rights are violated and how the precious natural resources of Baluchistan are looted and vandalized by the Punjabi musclemen. The credit of making the world hear the cries of oppressed Baluch goes to Prime Minister Modi who said that India would stand by the rights of the oppressed people in Baluchistan. Today the entire world sees Pakistan as the human rights violator of the Baluch people and hence among the list of human rights violating nations of the world Pakistan occupies the pride of place.
For too long, Pakistan denied role in either Kashmir sedition or in Afghan crisis. And when she was confronted with plethora of proofs of her involvement, of raising jihadis legions, of creating hundreds of training camps for the terrorist, of supplying sophisticated arms and ammunition to the jihadis, of championing campaigns of religious hatred against all non Muslims at home and abroad, the world sat back and said here is the epicenter of international terrorism.
The noose is getting tighter. Two American Congressmen have tabled a bill in the Congress demanding that Pakistan is declared a terrorist state. More than 1.5 lakh American citizens have signed a petition to the President of the USA to declare Pakistan a terrorist state. As the number of signatories has crossed a hundred thousand, the President of the US is obliged to discuss the matter officially with his advisers. The Vice President of the EU has issued a warning to Pakistan to impose sanctions if she continues oppression in Baluchistan. Mainstream political parties in India have demanded that the Parliament call a special session to discuss labeling Pakistan a terrorist state. All these developments converge to a disastrous situation for Pakistan and the only country left to do Tango with Mian Sahib will be the unpredictable Xi.
But a note of caution! Driven to wall, and India not taking recourse to military action, is eating Pakistan into its vitals. In desperation like a wounded animal she will find opportunity to pounce on India if she could. But she may be assured that before she pounces, her teeth and nails will be either blunted or broken for good.
