ISBTI organizes seminar on blood donation

LEH, July 10: The Indian Society of Blood Transfusion & Immunohaematology (J&K Chapter) organized a one-day national seminar on Voluntary Blood Donation at Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre Leh.
Speaking on the occasion, Director MIMC Sanghasena, who chaired the seminar, said helping others is a morality and blood donation is the best way to do it without any discrimination of caste, creed and race, which in turn will spread peace and harmony.
The Chairman ISBTI J&K Chapter, Anil K Padha addressing the seminar and said that donating blood has nothing to do with one’s health which is a common misconception among the people. “A blood donor after donating blood recovers instantly in an hour and within next 89 days he fully regains his health and can donate blood again.
“An individual between the ages 18 years to 65 years can donate blood 188 times in a life time and save so many precious human lives,” he added.
Sanjay Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, ISBTI, gave a power point presentation highlighting the objectives of ISBTI and stressed upon the people to become blood donor.
In the seminar, CMO Leh, Dr Yangchan Dolma gave a detailed report about requirement of blood, blood transfusion facility, status of blood bank, etc in Leh district.
Later, an audio cassette on blood donation promotion produced by ISBTI in collaboration with Young Blood Association was also launched.
The seminar was attended by all the doctors of SNM hospital Leh, religious and political leaders, students of Degree College and MIMC.
