Irresponsible conduct

The Government deserves accolades for resorting to action than getting bogged down in empty rhetoric in removing Tassaduq Jeelani from the post of Director Tourism Kashmir on his actions unbecoming of a responsible public servant. Service Conduct Rules enjoin upon a public servant to be a person of impeccable honesty and integrity and show un-blemishing conduct in and outside one’s office. A public servant cannot indulge in activities prejudicial to the interests of his or her employer which could be the State and Central Government as well.
It is astonishing that he should deliver such speech which goes beyond the confines of morality, ethics and sense of responsibility. His speech was found to be highly embarrassing for the Government and hence objectionable. Some members from the audience recorded his speech and uploaded it on social media which went viral. How could such an officer promote tourism which was most important for the economy of the State?
An inquiry has been instituted against him to submit a report within 10 days to General Administration Department. In fact, the Director during his last month’s “Kashmir Familiarization Tour” in which large number of tour operators across the country were participating made speech quite unbecoming of a responsible officer, hence action initiated. Even during his tour to Moscow he had proved to be irritating and embarrassing to the Indian Embassy from where a report against him had been sent to the Government. He is reported to have indulged in other irregularities of ostentatious expenditures on accommodation of tour operators etc.
