IRP cop injured in attack

JAMMU, Aug 11: A cop of Indian Reserve Police (IRP) was injured when his neighbour attacked him with some unknown sharp edged weapon at his quarter near CPO Chowk, here at Panjtirthi, late last night.
According to a police spokesperson, the injured cop has been identified as Head Constable Jitender Sharma (55) son of Dhuni Chand Sharma, a resident of Amar Singh Quarters near CPO Chowk, Panjtirthi, Jammu. The cop, whose Belt number is 114/IRP, was presently posted at IRP 1st Battalion, Reasi.
The spokesperson said that late last night one of cop’s neighbour namely Ajay alias Sonu son of Girdhari Lal went to his quarter. The cop objected to his late night visit following which a scuffle broke out between them and the accused Ajay attacked the cop with some unknown sharp-edged weapon.
In the attack, the cop suffered injuries on his head and other parts of the body. He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where his condition was stated to be stable.
In this connection, a case under relevant Sections has been registered at police station Pacca Danga and efforts are on to nab the accused, who is at large.
