JAMMU, Apr 6: Infuriated by the aftermath of the clash taking ugly turns in NIT Srinagar, large numbers of parents held protest here.
Carrying banners, large number of parents, whose students are studying in NIT Srinagar assembled near Press Club and held protest.
They raised slogans against the Government and demanded security cover to their wards.
The irate parents also demanded action against the erring police personnel, who cane-charged their children (non-Kashmiri) without any fault, resulting into injuries and hospitalization of large number of students.
While speaking, the parents stated that they had sent their ward to study in NIT Srinagar and if they did any nationalist activity, then why police tortured them.
“Cane-charge by security personnel over nationalist students clearly indicates that the latter support the anti-national elements openly”, they added.
“Our children raised pro-India slogans and in reply they were cane-charged by security personnel. Is this is justified”, they questioned.
Security personnel take no action against those, who raise anti-national slogans and do anti-national things by waving Pakistani flags openly, they alleged.
The parents demanded fool-proof security cover to their children so that their wards can do studies and secure their future.
They also demanded security cover to those students, who belong to different States.
“If the Government failed to provide security to their wards and also failed to take action against the anti-national elements in NIT Srinagar, then we will come on road and will protest in an aggressive manner and for any untoward incident, the Government will be responsible”, they stated.
