SRINAGAR, June 27: Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) President and AICC member G Sanjeeva Ready today said that he would take up the issues of local daily wagers and unemployed youth with Central Government so that State Government would be pressurized to fulfill their demands.
Talking to reports on the sidelines of one day convention of Indian National Trade Union Congress at Nigeeen Club here, the senior Congress leader said that after having a meeting and feedbacks from local union leaders that State Government is not doing enough for them to resolve their genuine demands.
“Being as president of the Indian National Trade Union Congress, it is my responsibility to take upon the problems being facing by the local traders. I will take upon the matter of the local daily wagers, casual labors and unemployed youths with central government so that state government would be pressurized to fulfill their demands without any further delay,” he said.
Advocating an unemployment allowance to the unemployed youths, the AICC member said that it would be an injustice with the unemployed youths, if unemployed allowance is not been given to them till they get adjusted.
Reddy also said that it is not only the state, but central government should also take care of the problems being faced by the people both in organized and un organized sector.
Reddy demanded that the minimum wages for the workers, whether they or on consolidate pay, Daily Wager or on need basis should be Rupees ten thousand per month and nothing less is acceptable to us. He also demanded that the retirement age of employees should be 62 years.
The Nation President INTUC also demanded minimum pension Rs.6000/- per month for the worker of private sector who retires, as his life security.
In his inaugural address Shiv Kumar Sharma State INTUC president welcomed National President and other senior functionaries of the INTUC and put forth various demands of the employees working at various categories in Govt., semi Govt. and Private sectors.
Shiv Kumar Sharma on the occasion said that for the last many years the employees particularly the labor class is fighting for their rights for decades and State Government is not showing any interested to resolve them.
“We also number of times took to the streets to fight for our rights. The Government used force against us, which is against the democratic principles of any country,” he said.
Vice president INTUC Farooq Ahmad Wangnoo on the occasion said that purpose of convening the convention in Srinagar was to brief the central leadership about the problems being faced by the State Government employees and the people working in private sector.
