INTUC State chief projects demands of PHE workers

JAMMU, June 13: State president of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), Shiv Kumar Sharma today strongly projected the demands of the PHE workers and stressed upon the concerned authorities to reschedule the office timings of the department in Jammu region from 8 am to 2 pm during summers.
In an emergency meeting of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association District Jammu held here today under the chairmanship of State president of INTUC, who is also the Provincial President of the Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, the members discussed their issues and criticized the authorities for not addressing the same since long.
While addressing the meeting, Shiv Kumar Sharma said that all other departments have started working from 8 am to 2 pm as per traditional office timings during summers but it is unfortunate that this order has not been implemented in PHE department in Jammu. He cautioned the concerned authorities to change the office timings of the PHE Department at par with the other departments or get ready to face action.

Sharma also expressed his concern over the long pending wages of daily wagers/CP/ need based workers and said that they should be paid regularly. He demanded that the State Govt should create separate wages head for the daily wagers/CP workers so that they are paid salary as a routine matter every month. He also demanded not to treat the daily wagers/CP workers as bounded laborers and release their 30-32 months pending wages at the earliest.
INTUC chief drew attention of the Govt towards many more issues such as regularization of daily wagers/CP workers who have completed five years service till date, enhancement of Medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 2000, implementation of 7th Pay Commission recommendations in the State along with the Central Govt employees, enhancement in minimum wages limit, DPC for all cadres twice in a year, release of pending wages of daily wagers/CP workers etc.
The others who participated and spoke in the meeting included Vijay Gupta, Sham Lal Digra, Gopal Krishan, Naresh Kumar, Tajinder Singh, Dharam Singh, Devinder Singh, Trilok Kumar, Swarn Singh, Surinder Kumar and Balbir Singh.
