Intrusion attempt foiled in Poonch, terrorist killed

JAMMU, May 12: Troops today thwarted intrusion attempt by the terrorists on the Line of Control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district, killing one terrorist.

Troops have launched massive search operation in the area to ensure that other terrorists, if any, don’t manage to intrude into this side.
Officials said the Army detected a group of infiltrating terrorists from Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) inside Indian territory in KG sector of Poonch district and challenged them, resulting into exchange of fierce gun battle.
“Acting on persistent surveillance, suspicious movement was detected approximately 300 meters inside own territory in the general area of Krishna Ghati Sector, Poonch, along the LoC at around 4 pm today,” the White Knight Corps said on X.
The troops swiftly responded and foiled the infiltration bid, ensuring no breach of the LoC, the Army said, adding that one intruder has been neutralized.
The troops continue to dominate the area and maintain a high state of operational readiness across the sector, they said.
Sources said the intruder, suspected to be linked to Lashkar-e-Toiba, was trying to infiltrate into this side of the border in Mankote area of the LoC.
Army continues massive search operations along the LoC to ensure that the terrorists don’t manage to infiltrate.
Troops have been maintaining high alert all along the LoC in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
