Introduce programmes with enhanced employability for students: CUK Chancellor

Srinagar, May 20: Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Chancellor, Dr. Srikumar Banerjee today underscored the need of introducing programmes in the University which would have greater employability in the market.
“The students passing out of the varsity should not only be employment seekers, but job providers,” Dr. Banerjee said while interacting with the faculty and students of the University at its Zainakote academic block.
The Chancellor asked the Deans of Schools to tie up with top notch educational institutions including IIMs and IITs in the country so that the students could get exposure in their respective academic disciplines. He further stressed for establishing linkages with the corporate sector across the country for internship training and placement of the students.
Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din said the University has taken up the process of NAAC accreditation on top priority and in this regard a Committee has been constituted to prepare the self-study report. He said the work on pre-engineered structures at Ganderbal would be taken up soon, enabling the University to start academic functioning at its designated campus.
Registrar, Prof. Mohammad Afzal Zargar said that the University puts in sustained efforts to meet the targets within the well set schedule.
Dr. Banerjee distributed certificates among the students who had participated in the blood donation camp organized by the University last year.
The Governor informed Dr. Banerjee about the present position regarding the growth of CUJ’s Campus in village Bagla in district Samba.
Earlier, the chancellor brifed Governor, N N Vohra and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, were briefed about the master plan of the University, approved by the EC, the highest body of the University, during interaction with them, he added.
