RAMNAGAR, Feb 7: An international seminar was conducted today at Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar on the theme “Gender Sensitization, Equity and Women Empowerment”.
The seminar started with lighting of traditional lamp by Prof Brinder Singh Chib, Principal of the college, along with other dignitaries.
Dr Celia Raimondi, a former postdoctoral researcher, Pasteur Institute, Paris, France and Prof Kashab Kumar, Department of History, College of Education, Jammu, were the resource persons.
Prof Kashab Kumar while speaking on the occasion said that discrimination against women is still prevalent in the society while Dr Pankaj Sharma highlighted that our society is full of patriarchal stereotypes.
Dr Celia Raimondi talked about the freedom provided to the women in the French society. Students of the college also presented their views regarding the current situation of women in India.
Dr Ajay Sharma, HoD, Department of Mathematics, Dr Pankaj Sharma and Dr Monica, HoD, Department of History, acted as judges. Prof Amit Singh was the coordinator of the seminar.
