RAMBAN, June 27: Jawahar Tunnel police arrested inter-state narcotic smuggler along with poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, a team from Jawahar Tunnel police post led by SI Gurupal Singh laid a naka and intercepted a passenger bus bearing registration number JK02U-7617.
During checking, police recovered 10 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of a passenger and arrested him on the spot.
The accused have been identified as Raj Kumar, son of Amar Nath, a resident of Nangal Salempur, Jalandhar, Punjab.
He was trying to smuggle the consignment from Srinagar to Punjab, but his nefarious designs were thwarted by the jawahar Tunnel police by arresting him.
A case under FIR Number 89/16 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Banihal police station and investigation started.
