RAMBAN, Apr 2: Batote police busted inter state gang of thieves with the arrest of four persons and recovery of stolen items including cash and gold ornament.

He stated that during the intervening night of March 18 and 19, an information regarding theft came to the notice of Police Station Batote and on enquiry, it was surfaced that some unknown thieves had attempted to commit theft at five different places in Batote town viz Shiv Temple Batote, Gurdwara Batote, one medical clinic and two chemist shops.
“The thieves succeeded in committing theft at two places viz Shiv Temple Batote and a chemist shop owned by Zahid Parihar near CHC Batote”, SSP said, adding that after taking cognizance of the matter, respective FIRs were registered.
He added that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was framed, which visited SOC and took finger prints and photographs from the SOC.
SSP said that after analysis of clues and information gather from the SOC, it was surfaced that three thieves had first done Reece of the town during day time and then committed theft during night hours, adding that various suspects were rounded up and after hectic efforts, police team arrested one of the thief identified as Mohammad Aslam, son of Beer Mohammad of district Doda, at present Nagrota from whom two knives, one torch and one iron rod (panna) were recovered.
During questioning of the arrested thief, three of his associates identified as Mohammad Javed, son of Beer Mohammad, Mohammad Manzoor, son of Qasam Din and Missar Khan, son of Mohammad Azim, all presently putting at Jagti Nagrota were also arrested from Jagti Nagrota.
“It has come to fore that it was an inter-state gang of thieves which have committed thefts at various places of J&K and also in neighboring states including Punjab”, SSP said, adding that on their disclosure, police recovered the stolen items including Rs 11500 cash, golden nath, etc. All the weapon of offence stands recovered in the instant FIRs, he added.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary busted the inter state gang of thieves under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Tussif Ahmed, Additional SP Ramban Mushtaq Choudhary and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
