Inter-state drug racket busted, kingpin among 3 arrested

JAMMU, Nov 21: Special Operation Group (SOG) wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) today busted inter-state drug racket with the arrest of kingpin and his two associates along with large quantity of intoxicant capsules from Kunjwani area of Gangyal.
As per police sources, on some reliable information, SOG team of JKP intercepted a bus near Kunjwani this morning and arrested three narcotic smugglers along with 14,000 intoxicant capsules.
The accused have been identified as Raj Kumar alias Raju (kingpin of the racket), son of Kala Ram of Jallabad Sunjwana, Darvinder Sharma, son of Sham Lal of Puran Nagar, Talab Tillo and Rajinder Singh, son of Kuldeep Singh of district Reasi, at present Paloura.
During preliminary verification, it came to fore that the accused purchased the consignment of the drugs from New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
The accused used to supply the intoxicant capsules to the drug addict youths in Jammu especially auto drivers. The area of operation of the gang was also holy town of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi at Katra.
A case under FIR number 162/14 under Section 8/20/21 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Gangyal and investigation started to arrest other members of the racket.
SOG team carried out the whole operation under the supervision of SP Operations Uday Bhaskar and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
