JAMMU, Oct 18: The inter-district UT level competitions in the sports discipline of Fencing (Under-19 girls) concluded at the Indoor Hall of MA Stadium, here today.
The event, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Jammu, had commenced earlier this week and saw enthusiastic participation from various districts across the Union Territory.
Organized under the patronage of Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K Anuradha Gupta, the event was held under the guidance of Joint Director YSS Jammu Vinakshi Koul and overall supervision of DYSSO Jammu Sukhdev Raj Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, DYSSO Sukhdev Raj Sharma urged participants to uphold team spirit, dedication, and sportsmanship in their pursuit of excellence. He also distributed medals and certificates among the winners and runners-up.
The competitions were conducted by departmental experts including Ujjwal Gupta, Shifali Gupta, Abdul Qadir, Jagdish Raj and Anthony Matto.
In the final results, Subhanaya Sharma from District Jammu clinched first place in the Sabre category, followed by Toyiba Yousuf from Budgam in second and Siya Kotwal from Jammu in third. In the Epee event, Aarushi from Samba secured first position, while Jyoti Devi from Kathua and Urfeya Rashid from Budgam bagged the second and third positions respectively.
In the Foil category, Samridhi Sharma from Udhampur emerged as the winner, with Ridhima Sambyal from Samba and Insha-Ul-Janat from Budgam securing the second and third spots respectively.
