JAMMU, Mar 19: NSM College of Education organised an inter-college symposium on the topic “Status of women is steadily improving in India”, in which students from ten different colleges participated.
On the occasion, Priya Sethi, former Minister was the chief guest.
The competition was judged by Dr OP Gupta and Gurcharan Singh, Retd Chief Education Officer.
The symposium was organised in the memory of Late TR Mahajan, Founder, Chairman of NSM Group of Institutions.
Sonam from NSM College of Education secured first rank, whereas Enu Sharma from MIER College and Neetu from Calliope College of Education bagged second and third positions and cash prize of Rs 1500, Rs 1000 and Rs 500 were given to them respectively. Three consolation prizes of Rs 200 each were given to Ambreen from MC Khalsa, Anshika Dubey from RM College of Education, Harish Chander Raina from Vishwa Bharti College of Education.
Priya Sethi in her address made several observations regarding the status of women in the current times. She observed that though there has been a marginal improvement in their status but still a great deal needs to be done so that women may lead a dignified life in their homes and in their professions.
Secretary of the College Parneesh Mahajan and Dr Suman Thussu, Principal of the host college were also present.
Bharti Koul and Payal Rani were the anchors for the programme, while vote of thanks was presented by Mukta.
