Intensive ticket checking campaign launched in Jammu Railway Division

JAMMU, June 1: To curb the cases of travelling without ticket and spreading dirt in the division, an intensive ticket checking campaign launched in Jammu Railway Division in month of May.
The campaign was launched under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager of Jammu Division, Vivek Kumar and the leadership of senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal.
As a result, ticket checking campaign was conducted by ticket checking staff in Kashmir valley area, in which about 752 passengers were charged and a fine of Rs 2.1 lakh was collected, ticket checking staff of Pathankot headquarters charged 2094 passengers and a fine of about Rs 9.77 lakh was collected, further moving forward, ticket checking staff of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station charged 346 passengers and a fine of Rs 3.69 lakh was collected and finally ticket checking staff of Jammu headquarters charged 975 passengers and a fine of about Rs 6.37 lakh was collected.
Speaking on the occasion, Uchit Singhal said that travelling without ticket or with irregular ticket is a punishable offence.
“As per Indian Railway rules, if caught travelling without ticket, a fine can be imposed or jail can be imposed or both. Under this ticket checking campaign, sectors and trains susceptible to ticketless travel were identified and special teams were formed to check it. During this, ambush checks, fortification and surprise checks were also carried out.”
Jammu Railway Division appeals to all its respected rail passengers to travel with valid railway tickets to avoid inconvenience and travel with dignity.
