Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization campaign launched across UTs of J&K, Ladakh

JAMMU, Jan 31: Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaign was launched today across Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to administer polio drops to the children in the age group of 0 to 5 years to protect them from the disease.
On day one of the campaign, out of estimated 1923790 children, 1667763 were administered polio vaccine across Jammu and Kashmir. 942167 children were administered polio drops in Kashmir Division and 725596 in Jammu Division. 9871 children were vaccinated as reported by the office of CMO Leh.
JAMMU: Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today inaugurated National Immunization Day (Pulse Polio Day) at Government Hospital Sarwal. Mission Director, National Health Mission, Dr Yasin Choudhary, Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Renu Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Jammu, Dr. J.P Singh, Surveillance Officer, WHO, Dr. Ravinder Singh, Nodal Officer NHM and other concerned officials of Health Department were also present on the occasion. Polio vaccination camp was also organized at Ward Number 9 of Jammu where polio drops were administered to the children eligible for it. Suneet Raina, Councilor of Ward Number 9 was present on the occasion.
DODA: Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization programme was launched here. District Development Commissioner Doda Dr Sagar D Dioforde kick started the programme by administrating pulse polio drops to a child in Government Medical College Hospital Doda. Meanwhile, IIPI programme was held here at Bhaderwah during which thousands of children of 0 to 5 years age group were administered polio vaccination drops. Block Medical Officer Bhaderwah Shakeel Ahmed was also present on the occasion.
RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Mussarat Islam inaugurated IIPI programme by administering two drops to a young infant at District Hospital (DH) here today. CMO, Dr Fareed Bhat, Deputy CMO, Dr Mohammad Iqbal Bhat, Medical Superintendent, DH, Dr Abdul Hamid and staff members of DH were present on the occasion. Similar drive was also carried out in far-flung and snow bound areas of district like Mahu and Mangit of Banihal block.
POONCH: District Development Commissioner Poonch, Rahul Yadav launched the three days long Pulse Polio Programme in the district. A total of 81385 children, below the age of five years will be administered oral polio vaccine in the district. On the occasion, Chief Medical Officer, GA Malik, Medical Superintendent, Dr Mushtaq Hussain, Dr Desh Raj Changotra, Health Inspector, Anjali Sharma, Ravinder Singh besides staff members were present. Pulse Polio Immunization Programme was inaugurated at Sub District Hospital Mendhar by Dr Sahil Jandyal Sub Divisional Magistrate Mendhar in presence of Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan Block Medical Officer Mendhar.
REASI: IPPI campaign was launched here today also. On the occasion, polio drop was given to a child below the age of 5 years. Meanwhile, IPPI campaign was inaugurated by Commandant CRPF 6th Battalion Jatinder Kumar Gupta in presence of BMO Katra Dr Gopal Dutt, District Health Officer Dr SD Atri, Second-in-Commandant CRPF Narinder Saran and many others at Base Camp Darshani Gate Katra.
KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioners, Ashok Sharma launched the campaign here at District Hospital to immunise about 42,025 children below the 5 year age in the district. CMO Kishtwar Dr RS Manhas, Deputy CMO Kishtwar Dr Balbir Kumar, BMO Kishtwar Dr. Sat Lal besides other medical staff and officials remained present on the occasion.
KATHUA: Pulse Polio immunization drive was launched by Deputy Commissioner Om Prakash by administering polio drops to the children here at Government Mahatma Gandhi Child and Maternity Hospital. Chief Medical Officer, Ashok Choudhary, ASP, Ramnish Gupta, Doctors and paramedic staff and a large number of people were also present.
RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan launched the three days Pulse Polio programme here at the District Hospital. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Anees Altaf Nabi, Block Medical Officer Manjakote, Dr Mehmood, paramedical staff of health department and senior citizens were present on the occasion.
Srinagar: Over 95 percent of the target population of children were administered the poliomyelitis vaccine as part of the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization programme in Srinagar. The programme was launched at the Gousia Hospital where the Chief Medical Officer Srinagar Dr Jehangir Bakshi administered polio drops to several children. At the end of the launch day today, 1,60,168 children were administered the vaccination in the district.
ANANTNAG: Deputy Commissioner, Anshul Garg inaugurated IPPI Programme at Maternity and Childcare Hospital Anantnag by administering oral anti polio vaccine drops to the new born infants in presence of CMO and Superintendent M&CCH Anantnag.
BUDGAM: District Development Commissioner, Budgam Shabaz Ahmed Mirza inaugurated pulse polio programme at Chief Medical Office by providing polio drops to zero age children.
BARAMULLA: Acting Deputy Commissioner/ Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraaf kick-started the IPPI campaign by giving oral polio drops to a newly born baby at GMC Baramulla.
BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner, Dr Owais Ahmad inaugurated the IPPI Programme by administering polio drops to a child at District Hospital Bandipora. CMO, Dr Bashir Ahmad, Dy CMO, Dr Parveiza, Medical Superintendent and staff members of DH were present on the occasion.
GANDERBAL: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal launched the IPPI Programme at District Hospital Ganderbal in presence of Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal, DHO, Medical Superintendent DH and other concerned officers.
PULWAMA, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Altaf Ahmad launched IPPI campaign at CMO office where he administered polio drops to the children in presence of CMO and other district officers.
KUPWARA: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Imam Din Inaugurated IPPI programme at Sub District Hospital Kupwara during which he administered polio drops to an infant.
KULGAM: Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Showkat Aijaz Bhat launched the IPPI programme in the district by administering polio drops to several children at District Hospital Kulgam. Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kulgam, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad Zargar, CHO, Dr Sameena Gull and other staff from Health Department was present on the occasion.
SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner, Shrikant Suse kick started Immunization drive by giving polio drops to children at Public Health Centre Tukroo, Shopian.
LEH: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson inaugurated IPPI programme at SNM Hospital, Leh. He also flagged-off mobile teams which were sent to various parts of the district to ensure no child is left without anti-polio drops. Incharge CMO Leh, Dr Manzoor-ul-Haq, Medical Superintendent, SNM Hospital, Dr Nurzin Angmo, District Immunization Officer, Dr Tashi Namgail, BMO Leh, Dr Tsering Chorol and senior doctors were also present on the occasion. 9871 children were vaccinated today as reported by the office of CMO Leh. Meanwhile, a total of 1,132 children below the age of 5 received polio drops in the first phase of IIPI programme in Khaltsi Sub-Division. Block Medical Officer (BMO), Khaltsi, Dr Iqbal Ahmad inaugurated the IPPI Programme at CHC Khaltsi. Sixty three children received polio drops in Nyoma Sub-Division under the supervision of Nambardar, Nyoma. Meanwhile, a polio vaccination camp was held under the supervision of Block Medical Officer (BMO), Nubra, Dr Diskit Dolma at Sub-District Hospital in Diskit.
KARGIL: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan along with the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary and Superintendent of Police Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary today kicked off the Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI) Programme in the district by administering polio vaccination drops to a 1 and a half year infant at District Hospital Kargil. During the (PPI) Programme, 2021 held across Kargil District today, thousands of children below the age of 5 years were administered polio vaccination drops to protect them against the crippling disease.
