JAMMU, Feb 4: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre organized a seminar on “Sensitisation to Earthquake Resistant Design Concepts” at Institutional Complex, Channi Himmat, here today.
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Pankaj Magotra was the chief guest, Lalit Kumar Mengi, FIE, former Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), Jammu and MM Gupta, MIE; former Chief Engineer, J&K Govt. and MD JKPCC, presently Chief Engineer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board were the guests of honour.
The talk and presentations on the subject were given by Prof Rupen Goswami, Associate Professor at IIT Madras and Ms Alpa Sheth, Managing Director, VMS Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai. The experts interacted with the stakeholders/ esteemed audience for implementation of latest developments and updating of codes concerning Earthquake Resistant Design Concepts.
A large number of engineers, members, Institutional members, officers from BRO, professors, scientists, students and members of the civil society from all walks of life attended the presentation/seminar.
Vijay Sharma, MIE; honorary secretary conducted the proceedings of the seminar and BL Rawal, MIE; former honorary secretary coordinator of the seminar presented the vote of thanks to the august gathering.
