Installing CCTV in courts

The Supreme Court of India believes that the court proceedings are not a private and closed affair but actually a public affair and there is nothing private in court hearing. AS such the denial of installation of CCTV in the courts is unjustified. The Supreme Court observed, while discussing an issue before it. Citing the example of the courts in United States, it said that the US Supreme Court, too, had opined that there is nothing private in the courts hearings. However, the Supreme Court said that copies of the CCTV cannot be provided to anybody on demand and that only after the permission is sought from the Supreme Court about a particular video be issued o the party.
We feel that this is a right decision. The CCTV will put on record whatever is being said in the court and those who going for appeals can ask for submission of the CCTV footage for examination. Though our course and judges are held in high esteem by the people of Indi because they are the custodian of the constitution and constitutional law in the country and the highest and final fountain of justice, Installing of CCTV will lend further credit to the authority, status, dignity and prestige of the courts. It is a big step in reassuring the people of the country that they will be provided fair, impartial and quick justice.
