Install statue of Banda Bahadur at Kunjwani: Sikh bodies

JAMMU, July 4: Various Sikh bodies under the banner of Sikh Front today expressed strong resentment over delaying installation of the statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk in Jammu.
In a meeting of various sikh organizations, held under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh, chief organiszer Bhai Kaneya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and Ex-member District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee Jammu, various issues confronting the Sikh community were discussed. The participants showed anguish over delaying tactics of the Govt in installing statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar at Kunjwani Chowk.
They said time and again it has been announced by the former Dy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta that the statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar will be installed at Kunjwani Chowk Jammu but nothing has been done so far in this regard. They said there was great resentment among the Sikh community members and others as they were befooled by the BJP leaders.
It is pertinent to mention that Baba Banda Singh Bahadar was a great warrior and first king of Khalsa Panth who uprooted the Mughal Empire while the Mughals had been busy in converting the Hindu community into Islam. Baba Banda Singh Bahadar was the son of the soil. The Govt must respect the sentiments of the people, they added.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included Darbinder Singh (SAD), Rajinder
Singh, Raja Singh, Ravinder Singh,Charanjeet Singh, Prof Yudhvir Singh, Gajan Singh, Kulwant Singh Khajuria and Charanjeet Singh Bali.
