7 thieves arrested, stolen items recovered

UDHAMPUR, July 4: Udhampur Police claimed to have busted a gang of thieves and recovered stolen property, including 9 mobile phones and cash of Rs 17000 from their possession.
The accused were involved in a number of thefts, including the one committed in the store of Subash Chander son of Rattan Chander of Ritti Udhampur from where they had stolen Rs 3000 cash and some grocery items. A case FIR number 245/2021 U/S 457/380 IPC was registered in this connection at Police Station Udhampur.
Acting on the complaint of theft, a special team led by SHO Udhampur Chaman Gorka, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs Udhampur started the investigation and rounded up some suspects.
During interrogation, some leads were developed and gang of seven thieves were apprehended, who confessed the crime and involvement in several thefts. On their disclosure, stolen items were also recovered.
The arrested accused were identified as Sajad Mohammed son of Gulzar Mohammed of Chak Bakali, Karam Din son of Abdul Karim of Krimchi Kandal, Sagar Singh son of Roshan Singh of Battal Ballian, Ganesa Kumar alias Mushki son of Babu Ram of Near Forest Office Christian Colony, Mannu son of Rajkumar of near CEO Office Udhampur, Sahil son of Manzoor Ahmed of Chak Rakwal and Mohd Azgar son of Manzoor Ahmed of Chak.
During the further course of investigation, these accused persons also disclosed that they were involved in some more thefts earlier also for which FIR number 203/2021, 232/2021, 244/2021 were lodged at Police station Udhampur.
