RAMBAN, July 3: Former MLA, Ramban and senior Congress leader Ashok Kumar has urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir that one new station of 25 KVA transformer along with HT and LT under L&T Company should be restored immediately at Thanari (Chanderkote).
The Ex-MLA while interacting with people said that transformer was sanctioned under RGGVY (now DDUGJY). The scheme was designated for the continuous power supply to rural areas. He said this rural electrification is still pending from the last six years where as BJP Government at the Centre has given false assurances that they have provided electricity to every rural households however, many rural villages people are still waiting for electrification.
It is great injustice to the poor people of Thanari (Chanderkote) who are already vulnerable to land sinking and landslides by unscientific cutting of slopes in four lane construction of NH-44. The sinking of land has been affecting the people inhabited on its periphery due to unplanned cutting of slopes by Gammon and HCC company which has further triggered landslides and sinking of land above the NH-44 at this village. One houses have been completely damaged and their families have been migrated to upper Pir Panjal mountains as they have not provided any rehabilitation of the damaged structures and several houses have developed cracks and are on the verge of damage due to the sinking of land below.
He has stressed upon the National Highway construction companies to construct damaged foot path of Thanari Chanderkote on war footing as it has been completely damaged due to unscientific cutting of slopes below the villages and created a massive landslides futher threatening the 14 houses consists of 152 population. It is the responsibility of the concerned companies to construct new foot path from NH-44 to Primary School Thanari Chanderkote.
Ex-MLA said that early completion of NH-44 and development of road connectivity is significant for nation but it is ever becoming disasterous for everybody due to creation of massive landslides by impromptu cuttings of slopes. He stressed that afforestation is good measure to restrict landslides in future.
