JAMMU, June 1:  A team of the Food Safety officers namely  Manzoor Ahamd and  Dalip Singh under the supervision of  Sanjeev Kumar, Assistant Controller Food, (JMC)  carried out  inspections of the
M/s Shiva Dairy, Industrial Estate, Digiana, M/s Jammu Jewel Hotel and restaurants, M/s Hotel Samrat and Hotel Vivek, Bus stand, Jammu, today.
It has been observed that the owner as well as the employees engaged in the manufacturing unit/ hotels  are not well versant with the principle of Good Hygienic practices . Accordingly all the manufacturing unit  have been  served the checklist along with suggestion for improvement with the  direction to upgrade the infrastructure as well as lay down emphasis on the GHP as per provision laid down under the FSS Act 2006.
During deliberation in the Dairy unit, it has been observed that Company is manufacturing generally Frozen Dessert, a  product different from ice cream.
Accordingly the  public in general  is  impressed upon to differentiate  Frozen Dessert and Ice cream by simply going through the label declaration  as  both  the product  differ in composition as well as  quality parameter laid down under the FSS Regulation 2011 but  are similar in appearance, taste and texture.
Similarity of appearance, taste and texture of such food product are sometimes targeted to befool gullible consumers on account of huge difference in production cost. Moreover all the FBO dealing with Frozen Desserts are also impressed upon to clearly mention the category of the food for
the awareness of the general public failing which action under FSS Act and rules shall be initiated against the violator.
