Inquiry ordered into death of minors

RAMBAN, Aug 2: Taking serious note of two minors dying after consuming iron pills distributed in the schools, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Farooq Ahmad Shah today placed two Headmasters under suspension and ordered inquiry to be completed within 15 days.
Reports said that two minor students-one of a private school and another studying in Government Middle School Lamber died after consuming multiple iron tablets which were given to the teachers for providing one tablet weekly to the students.
“There are certain guidelines which doctors or teachers have skipped to take attention. Since the case is of very serious nature, responsibility needs to be fixed”, the Deputy Commissioner said after ascertaining reports about these incidents.
He has constituted a committee comprising CMO Ramban, CEO Ramban and headed by ADDC Ramban to conduct exhaustive inquiry into the incidents and fix responsibility on the culprit(s) and propose penal action within 15 days.
In the meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has directed the CEO Ramban to place Headmaster of HS Chambalwass and Headmaster of M S Lamber under suspension pending inquiry as prima facie they have not followed the guidelines in issuing tablets among the students.
The CEO and CMO have been directed to withdraw the tablets from the students/schools the expiry date of which is August 2015 and ensure that no more death due to this is caused in the district.
