Inmates of Nari Niketan without proper facilities

Excelsior Correspondent
MENDHAR, Feb 20: About 30 odd inmates of Nari Niketan Mendhar in district Poonch are facing lot of problems due to inadequate facilities.
Most of the inmates alleged that they have no proper beds, quilts/ blankets and clothes besides other facilities of daily use. The things provided by the Army through Sadbhavna were missing from the Home. They pointed out that Army had also provided TV and three computers to them but they did not know the fate of these things. There was no TV for the inmates and condition of bathrooms/ toilets was worst. There was no hygienic water supply and moreover, the kitchen was also in shabby condition with no proper containers to keep ration and other articles.
They appealed the senior officers of the State Social Welfare Department to pay visit and take note of  the state of affairs in the homes. Pertinent to mention here that most of the children in these Homes are wards of militancy victims or other poor orphans.
District Social Welfare Officer Poonch, Qazi Qadeer-ul-Rehman when contacted said that  he was not aware of these facts but he assured to pay visit to the Nari Niketan and on the spot assessment of the situation.
