JAMMU, May 1: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) president Subash Shastri asked the Prime Minister (PM) to initiate the process for constitution of 7th Pay Commission and hold discussion with the representatives of both Central and State Government employees in this regard.
This was stated by NMC president Subash Shastri, while addressing a May Day protest rally here, in which large number of NMC activists took part.
Shastri said that decision for the constitution of the 7th Pay Commission should be taken on priority. He pointed out that except 6th Pay Commission, all the pay commissions were constituted in the third year of every decade.
“50 per cent of the DA should be merged into the basics pay and pension, he said, adding that 20 per cent interim relief and 8 per cent DA installment, with effect from January 2013, should be sanctioned as early as possible in favour of State Government employees and pensioners.
He said that there should be time bound implementation of the policy for regularization of the daily wagers, who have completed seven years of service in March 2012, adding that the wages of the daily wagers should also be raised to Rs 10,000 per month.
Shastri also demanded release of salary of motivators working in IWDP project phase-II besides their regularization, declare May Day as gazetted holiday, release the wages of daily, seasonal and casual labourers working in the R&B Divisions No 1, 2, 3, Samba, Irrigation Division Akhnoor and division No 2, amendment in SRO 64, implementation of all Central Labour Laws, enhancement in medical allowance to Rs 1,000 and removal of pay anomaly.
