Infrastructure development in remote areas priority of Govt: Sakina

NAGAM (NOORABAD), Oct 30: Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo today said that Government is continuously making efforts to facilitate the common people especially belonging to remote and far flung areas of the State.
The Minister said this while addressing a gathering at Nagam in Noorabad constituency after laying foundation stones of various infrastructure developmental projects including 6.3 MVA 33/11 KV Receiving Station, Primary Health Centre, 3 Kms Nagam-Check Nagam-Gujjar Basti road and Government High School, Nagam.
The Minister said that with the completion of these huge infrastructure projects, better healthcare, high standard education, road connectivity and better quality of power supply would be made available to the people of this area.
Ms. Sakina said that since Omar Abdullah took the reins of the present Government, various sectors particularly power supply, education, drinking water, health services and road connectivity as a part of the programme to provide all the basic needs of the common people have been prioritized.
She said that the proposed Receiving Station would facilitate the hilly terrain areas like D.K. Marg Nagam, Boh, Khull Ahmadabad and will provide quality voltage and reliable power supply to consumers of the area.
Lauding the achievements of the present Government, the Minister said that in comparison to the previous regime, the present Government under the leadership of Omar Abdullah has provided 40,000 jobs to the educated un-employed youth through various agencies like SSB, District level or PSC etc. and there are continuous efforts to create more and more employment avenues to accommodate the unemployed educated youth. She said that the Government has already launched SKEWP for providing employment allowance to the un-employed educated youth and added the youth are also getting loan facilities for establishing their own income generating units.
The Minister while speaking about the road connectivity said there is now hardly any village in her constituency which is not connected with the towns or cities and added that a number of damaged electric transformers and electric poles have been replaced with new ones. She asked the Chief Engineer, PDD to replace the damaged electricity poles with new ones at Khripora.
