JAMMU, Oct 30: Reiterating its demand for carving out of Kashyap State for rehabilitation of displaced Pandits, Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) today said that the ground situation was not conducive for the return of the displaced members of minority community back to Valley.
In a statement issued here today KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri said that the Government should provide the benefits of PM’s package to the dispalced people at their present places of settlement.
He criticized the Government for further delaying the enhancement of cash relief and said this way the agitating relief holders have been totally betrayed. The enhancement of relief should have been a priority for the Government in view of the increase in price index. He said the clubbing of relief with return package is that both Centre and State Governments are adopting delaying tactics on the issue.
Kashmiri said that displaced KPs do not want to return under the prevailing circumstances in the Valley and KPC is for carving out of Kashyp State where the writ on Indian Constitution runs large.
Warning agitation in case enhancement of relief was further delayed, he sought immediate intervention of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in the matter.
Meanwhile, the agitating relief holders of Jagti led by Ajay Bhat have convened a meeting of all KP organizational heads and relief holders at in the township tomorrow to discuss the future strategy.
Mr Bhat in a statement said that Government should give time frame by which the relief is enhanced and avoid delaying tactics.
