Infiltration bid foiled on LoC in Poonch; militant killed

JAMMU, May 8:  Army today successfully foiled an infiltration bid  and eliminated one militant while another managed to escape along the Line of  Control in bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.    “The troops of  15 MAHAR at around 0830 hrs noticed a suspicious movement of two  militants close to the fence in Balnoi area of Mendhar area of Poonch,” Defence  sources here told UNI.
They said the militants fired at the army which was retaliated and gun battle triggered.
During more than 30-minute-long exchange of fire, one militant was killed while another taking advantage  of bushes, managed to escape, sources added.
They said the militants  were in combat dress, adding that one Ak-47, 78 rounds, 4 magazines, one GPS and  two grenades were recovered from the slain militant.
The area was cordoned  off while the search operation was in progress. (UNI)
