Infant dies at SDH Pattan

SRINAGAR, Jan 31: A newly born baby died today due to alleged medical negligence of doctors on duty at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In this connection, scores of people from Gunde Ibrahim Pattan protested at SDH Pattan. They also protested in front of SDM office Pattan, while raising slogans against BMO Pattan
Residents and the family member of deceased said that a pregnant lady Safeena wife of Shafat Ahmad Dar was admitted in the hospital at 8 am yesterday. “Till 10 pm lady was withering due to pain as the Surgeon and Gynaecologist were not present in the hospital and BMO did not bother to refer the patient due to which newly born baby died,” they said.
The protesters while demanding stern action against BMO Pattan said he behaved rudely with the patients and attendants to “hide the negligence.”
Meanwhile, a complaint against BMO Pattan was registered by the family member of deceased at Police Post Palhallan and the police have taken up the investigation. Further, the DC Baramulla has initiated an enquiry into the matter.
