The induction of Tejas- a modern fighter aircraft in Indian Air Force is a historic moment in the annals of the country.
Though it took Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) 32 years to produce and handover first Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), it surely will strengthen the country air power which got reduced terribly during last two decades.
Not only that, it is an important step towards indigenisation of defence equipment. Presently, India depends largely on foreign countries for weaponry and allied machines. Purchasing them at exorbitant prices is in no way good for the country.
Tejas a 4+ generation fighter aircraft will boost India’s confidence in building fighter aircrafts, and in times India will start exporting them. The production of aircrafts will also create job opportunities in the country, besides saving huge exchequer.
