Indian Railways gears up to help J&K flood victims

NEW DELHI : As part of its efforts to provide relief to the victims of Jammu and Kashmir floods, the Indian Railways today made arrangements to send several passengers, who were left stranded due to the floods to their respective destinations. A Ministry of Railways spokesperson said several victims of Jammu and Kashmir floods have arrived at Anand Vihar terminal in NCR and were provided free tickets to enable them to reach their respective destinations.
The spokesperson said on their arrival, the victims were served lunch and later issued free EFT (Tickets) for their onward journey to their destination .
All the 605 victims were cleared by Lichhiavi, Vikramshilla, Sapt kranti and Jansadharan Express trains for their destination– Islampur, Allahabad, Araria Cantt, Bettiah, Katihar, Lalganj, Narkatiaganj, Purania, Kiahanganj, Darbhanga, Bugha, Malda Town and Jogbani .
Northern Railways have made special arrangements to clear flood affected people from Katra and Udhampur in the state. (AGENCIES)
