NEW DELHI: India will be hosting the 2018 Commonwealth Judo Championships in Jaipur, besides organising the Asian Cadet and Asian Junior Judo Championships in September in Kerala this year.
The Commonwealth Judo Championships was allotted to India, by the Commonwealth Judo Congress held on April 23rd at Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
“It is a great privileged that Judo Federation of India (JFI) has been allotted to organize and conduct the Commonwealth Judo Championships,” said Man Mohan Jaiswal, General Secretary of Judo Federation of India.
“The Commonwealth Judo Championships is the official event of the Commonwealth Judo Associations and being organised in every 2 years for Cadets, Junior, Seniors, Masters and visually impaired Judo Players.
This will be the first time that Commonwealth Judo Championships will be held in India. The Championships will be held in Jaipur. However, the dates are yet to be finalized,” he added.
While Commonwealth Judo Championships is still two years away, India will also play host to the 10th Asian Cadet Judo Championships & 17th Asian Juniors Judo Championships from September 6th to 12th at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kadvanthaa, Kerala.
“This is the official event of the Judo Union of Asia (JUA) and also one of the events of World Ranking for Cadet and Juniors Judokas. In conjunction with this Championships, JUA Refereeing Seminar and Examination will also be organised from 6th to 12th September 2016,” Jaiswal said in a release.(Agencies)
