India’s defence manufacturing capabilities have evolved in big way which will be showcased in five-day biennial air show being held from February 18 in Bangalore.
Indian defence companies are participating on large scale in this year’s airshow. Defence public sector undertakings like BEL, HAL and Ordinance Factory Board and private companies involved in the defence production are all set to display their products in Asia’s premier airshow and exhibition. Navratna defence PSU BEL and HAL will be showcasing their wide range of capabilities in the Aero India, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the inaugural day. BEL will showcase its capabilities spanning every domain of its business – electronic warfare and avionics, radars, missile systems, communication systems, naval systems, electro optics, fire control systems, technology modules, simulators and shelters.
BEL will display its Tactical Palm Computer, Wrist Wearable Computer, Rugged Tablet Computer and Laptop; Combat Management System – live display of software on test bed; Tablet PC and Secure Smart Phone. Digital Mobile Radio Relay (DMRR) will also be showcased, which is being used by soldiers posted in remote areas of the country like LoC.
Host of new radars — Battle Field Surveillance Radar
Extended Range (BFSR-XR), Ground Penetrating Radar, Ashlesha Radar and Secondary Radar, Identification of Friend or Foe Interrogator would also be displayed.
The highlight of the Indian showcase will be the Army version of the Akash missile, including the Troop Level Radar, Troop Control Centre and 3D Central Acquisition Radar (3D CAR). Indigenous products like Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-Tejas, will be on flying display showing their versatility.
Visitors can experience a feel of the Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer cockpit on a full scale cockpit simulator. An upgraded cockpit mock-up to showcase the cockpit functionalities for a variety of platforms is also being installed in the show.
Advanced Light Helicopter – Weapon System Integration (ALH-WSI) Rudra, ALH Skid Utility, LCH and the first series production Light Combat Aircraft (SP1) will be on static display. (PTI)
