India counters UN High Commissioner’s comments on Kashmir

GENEVA: India today rebutted the assessment and remarks made by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) at the 33rd Session of Human Rights Council and accused Pakistan of choreographing the current violence in Jammu and Kashmir, in wake of killing of a dreaded terrorist.

In a statement at the session, India again reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India with Pakistan remaining in illegal occupation of a part of its territory. India insisted that PoK and J&K cannot and should not be equated.

Rejecting the neutrality of the phrase “Indian-administered Kashmir” as artificial, New Delhi said Jammu and Kashmir has an elected democratic Government that represents all sections of the people unlike the situation in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. (AGENCIES)
