JAMMU, Aug 13: 70th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and zeal.
Vishwa Bharati College of Education celebrated Independence Day with gaiety and fervour. The programme started with flag hoisting ceremony by chief guest, AK Bhat, president, Vishwa Bharati Women’s Welfare Institution. The skit on cleanliness drive, a documentary on Indian’s Independence Journey and its aftermath of its progress, dances, songs and speeches marked the day. Fancy dress competition was the highlight of the day.
Independence Day was also celebrated at Trikuta Degree College, Nardani. The students shared their views on the importance of the Day. Suman Sharma, Chairperson of the College, hoisted the National flag and advised the students to work hard and contribute in Nation building. Sunita Magotra, Principal of the college was also present.
NSS unit of Government College of Education, Jammu celebrated Independence Day in the college campus. Daljit Singh Balwal, PWD, R&D was the chief guest while the function was presided over by College Principal, Prof (Dr) Koushal Smotra. Cultural bonanza was presented by students and NSS Volunteers though variety of patriotic songs, poems and speech by students.
Sacred Heart College of Education, Paloura celebrated Independence Day. Tricolour Flag was hoisted by MD of the college Hari Singh Chib. Vijay Singh Jamwal, Second-in-Command SSB and Barjeet Singh, Deputy Commandant SSB were the guest of honors. The staff, students and locals were also present on the occasion.
Jodhamal Public School celebrated the Independence Day with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm. Students presented beautiful dances on patriotic songs like ‘Sar Pe Himalaya ki chat hai’, ‘Vande Matram’ and few Dogri songs. Mubassir Latifi, SP Crime, presided over the event as chief guest and unfurled the National flag.
Model Academy celebrated 70th Independence Day with great zeal and enthusiasm at both its branches. Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER and Rupa Gupta, Management Representative, graced the occasion. To keep alive, the flame of patriotism, a bouquet of cultural program was presented by students in the form of speeches, patriotic dance and poems. An ‘Inter House Patriotic Group Song’ competition was also organized.
Saluting the Nation and its freedom fighters on the eve of its 70th Independence Day, the management, staff and students of Army Public School, Dhar Road, showcased a colourful spectacle of India’s vision through their performance. Earlier, the function started with flag-hoisting ceremony followed by parade by the students.
SM Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Anand Nagar, celebrated “Independence Day” with great pomp and show. The students were given demo regarding this grand occasion. They actively participated in the celebration by singing group songs and a dance item. The students also delivered speeches regarding the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
Luthra Public School, Talab Tillo, Luthra Higher Secondary School, Kacchi Chawani, Shemrock Icons and Shemrock Angels celebrated Independence day at BR Luthra Educational complex, Talab Tillo. Anil Gupta, president, DCC Jammu Urban, was the chief guest. Amazing kids of Shemrock icons presented beautiful dance performances. Sweets were distributed to all students. A quiz competition was also organized.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The celebrations began with unfurling of Tri-colour by Principal, Rameshwar Mengi. Thereafter, a beautiful patriotic dance-cum-skit was presented by the students of Middle and High Wing. A beautiful dance by Primary Wing students was also present.

Educational Trust, Sunil Jain, who was the chief guest. The student presented a captivating cultural bonanza focused on patriotism.
Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School, Rajpura today saluted the Nation and its freedom fighters on the eve of 70th Independence Day, in the premises of the school. The occasion was marked by a cultural programme highlighting the unity and diversity of India. The Kindergarten wing of the school also participated in celebrations.
Independence Day was celebrated with true patriotic fervour at Vishwa Bharti Public Higher Secondary School, Akalpur Morh, Jammu. Patriotic song ‘Aae mere vatan ke logon’ gave a kick start to the programme which was followed by speeches, songs, skits and dances. Head boy, Aryan Raina Keshav Blaria of class 1st delivered their speeches.
A special assembly was conducted on the eve of Independence Day at JK Montessorie School. Children sang beautiful patriotic songs and also spoke on sacrifices made by freedom fighters. The school management along with the school staff hoisted the National flag.
A colourful function to celebrate Independence Day was organized at Gandhi Memorial Higher Secondary School, RS Pura. Chief guest, Kewal Krishan Khajuria, hoisted the National flag and National Anthem was sung by the students. Rimzim Sudan and group performed a patriotic song. The chief guest also highlighted the importance of the Day.
Jammu Public School celebrated Independence Day with great patriotic fervor. Santosh Sharma, Principal of the School, hoisted the Tri-colour. A debate competition was organized in which students participated with full enthusiasm. Later, sweets were distributed among the students.
On the eve of Independence Day, a huge celebration was held in Sri Guru Gobind Singh Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani. Dances and various cultural performances were presented by the children. The Tri-colour was unfurled by Principal, Gurtaj Singh. In the end, Chairman of the school, Harbans Singh, reminded the children of the worthy sacrifices by the freedom fighters.
Shanti Swaroop Memorial Jammu Public Higher Secondary School, Sarwal/Patoli celebrated Independence Day in school premises with great zeal and enthusiasm. All the students participated, sang songs of patriotism and presented various cultural items including a fancy dress, wherein students came in the postures of our great freedom fighters.
Independence Day was also celebrated in the premises of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bazaar Qasaban (Jammu). Principal, Shafqat Javed Chib unfurled the National flag. Students of the school, displayed various colourful items including some skits. Some faculty members spoke on the occasion and highlighted the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
The students of SOS Hermann Gmeiner School kick started India’s 70th Independence Day celebrations in a unique manner. They got an opportunity to witness and put together the largest bag of candy in the world. Called the Yes Thank You Universe bag, it contained 237.875 Kilos of candies made in the three principal colours of the Indian flag. The bag was designed and filled by Vickrant Mahajan, motivator and multiple Guinness World Record holders.
Fauji Public School, Village Patti, District Samba celebrated 70th Independence Day. The National Flag was unfurled by the Director of the School Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, in presence of school staff, children and guests. Director presented a TV set to the senior wing as an educational aid, on his personal behalf. The event ended with singing of national anthem and distribution of sweets by the School Principal Anjana Sharma. OIC of the School Col Sham Lal also graced the occasion and joined with the staff members.
New Era Environmental High School, Circular Road (Jammu) organized Independence Day celebrations at Shri Atam Vallabh Jain Dharamshala, Fattu Chougan, Jammu. Te children from Nursery to class 10th participated in the programme and presented various cultural items. Earlier, chief guest, Prabha Jain, Principal of the School, hoisted the National flag.
MNKG Montessorie Public High School, Gandhi Nagar, celebrated 70th Independence Day with great zeal. Chairman of the school, Arvind Sharma, hoisted the Tri-colour amidst chanting of National Anthem by the students. A cultural extravaganza was presented by the students of higher classes. Patriotic songs depicting ethos of the day stole away ever spectator’s heart.
SNS Vidya Mandir, Camp Road, Talab Tillo, in collaboration with Jammu Division of Song and Drama, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, organized a programme in its premises to celebrate Independence Day. Songs and skits on various topics ranging from National Integration, Communal Harmony and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan were presented by the students.
Kartar Public School, Barnoti, District Kathua celebrated the 70th Independence Day.
Ranjeet Singh, Patron of Kartar Educational Trust was the chief guest on the occasion, who unfurled the National Flag, followed by National Anthem and march past by the NCC contingent of girls wing of the school. Ravinder Kumar, Vice Principal, Kartar Public School, presented the welcome address. Melodious welcome song was also presented by school children, followed by dance item by pre-primary kids of school depicting the diverse culture of India, group song by the students of 8th class, speeches, drama on the freedom struggle, Punjabi dance, pray for India and fusion dance on the culture of Jammu and Kashmir. Harpreet Kour, Secretary, KPS, Neeraj Thakur and Coordinator KPS were also present on the occasion.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu celebrated Independence Day under the theme “Through Hardwork We Shall Overcome”. The celebration started with National Flag hoisting ceremony followed by National Anthem. A series of colourful dance items and songs were presented by the students Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson Rohini Aima urged the student to be disciplined and work for national harmony. Harpreet Singh Anand, Chairperson of the School, Nidhi Kohli, Rohail, Rashi and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.

Alexander Memorial School celebrated Independence Day with prominent senior citizens and members of Golden Pillars Club, a unit of the Alexander Memorial School. The progamme was introduced by Laxmi Jasrotia, a teacher of the school, while Esther William, Principal of the school presented the welcome address. The day was also celebrated with patriotic fervor by students and staff of Vidya Jyoti Model High School, Indira Colony, Janipur. The National flag was hoisted by Principal, JR Raizada amidst chanting of National Anthem by students. Songs, skits and speeches were also presented by the students.
Crescent Public School, Janipur celebrated Independence Day with great enthusdiasm. The function started with parade by the students followed by hoisting of National flag by MD, Tasneem Kouser and Principal, Bhavna Koushal. Students in Tri-colour uniforms were special attraction. Cultural items and patriotic songs were presented by the students.
Independence Day celebrations were conducted at Sai Shyam Educational Society, Ghou-Manhasan. The students of College of the Education and Public High Secondary School participated in various programmes with great zeal, fervor and enthusiasm. The programme started by unfurling of the tri-colour by Dr Usha Tickoo, Principal of the College of Education along with the staff and students of the Institution. Later, prizes were distributed among the students who secured different positions in the competition.
Independence Day was celebrated in Wonder World School, Trikuta Nagar and Gandhi Nagar. The founder of the school Gitanjali Mahajan unfurled the National Flag, followed by recitation competition for the classes LKG and UKG. The children who got different prize were Devyansh, Gurpartap, Anshika, Angadjot, Kyna, Jaskirat, Shivi, Aarika, Bhargavi, Utkarsh, Saundarya and Khushboo. Children came dressed in tricoloured clothes and as leaders.
70th Independence Day of India was celebrated at Daffodils Care Convent Pre School, Jain Bazaar. The programme commenced with an oration by Shevata. She explained the importance of freedom in one’s life and threw light on the love of country. Later, National Flag hosting ceremony was performed by Principal Shikha Puri with Chairperson of the school Narinder Gupta. A programme based on patriotic theme was presented by little daffodilians. All the children were attired as different freedom fighters and presented cultural items and sung patriotic songs.
Happy Hours Nursery School, Rehari Colony, Jammu also celebrated the Independence Day. Principal, Poonam Gupta, hoisted the National Flag followed by singing of National Anthem by students and teachers. Sweets were distributed among the students.
Country Kids Play Way School, Subhash Nagar, organized a patriotic fancy dress competition for the children to celebrate Independence Day. Little kids in costumes of freedom fighters reminded everybody of the high moral characters of our National heroes. With the hoisting of National flag, the sound of ‘Bharat Mata KI Jai’ echoed in the atmosphere.
Cradle 2 Crayons Play Way School, Lower Roop Nagar, celebrated Independence Day with great zeal. Donning traditional dresses in the tri-colour, the toddlers recited patriotic songs which enthralled the audience.
Nightingale Pre School celebrated Independence Day. The celebration began with the various competitions held for all sections. In the competitions, Vivan Mandla, Abhovpreet Singh, Rishaan Dev, Akansha Gupta, Karmany Gupta, Sarvagya Naryan, Aasses Kour, Shivanshi Gupta and Arayana Gupta emerged winners. Sarita Reen, Renowned Educationist and Manjeet Singh were the guests of the day, who unfurled the National Flag. Sonia Jain, Principal of the school presented vote of thanks.
KIDZEE celebrated Independence Day at its Anand Nagar Bohri, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Talab Tillo branches. Students attired as freedom fighter participated in various activities including Flag Making, Rangoli Making and Batch Making Competitions. The students and staff delivered the speech regarding the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to make Indians free from the clutches of the Britishers.
Silver Spoon International Play Way and Kindergarten School, Ashok Nagar, Satwari celebrated Independence Day. Director of the school Brijesh Gupta presented the welcome address. During the celebration programme, students were dressed in tricolor dresses and participated in various cultural and patriotic activities. Students and staff were dressed in tri-colour to pay tribute to all the freedom fighters of India. The function ended with speech of Principal, Bharti Bhardwaj, who laid stress on discipline, unity and diversity of our Country.
Humming Buds, the Pre-School also celebrated Independence Day both its branches with great pomp and show. The whole atmosphere felt patriotic with decoration of Tri-colour balloons, National flag, pictures of our freedom fighters and inspirational quotes. A group song ‘Mera Mulk Mera Desh’ was sung beautifully by the children.
As a precursor to the Independence Day celebrations, Tiger Division organized a Pipe Band Display and Special Light and Sound Show at Balidan Stambh in Jammu. The spectators were enthralled with the synchronized display by four pipe bands of the Indian Army who played scintillating martial tunes. The Light and Sound Show was also witnessed by a large fraternity of Jammu including students from many schools and the Jammu University. The audience remained captivated by the commentary and laser lights highlighting the eternal flame and 60m high tower symbolizing a bayoneted rifle.
As part of various ongoing programmes on the eve of 70th Independence Day, Army Goodwill School at Keri in district Rajouri organized impressive cultural programme. On the occasion, BJP senior leader and MLC Vibodh Gupta was the chief guest. Principal Monika Sharma gave details about various activities of the school. Later, MLC Vibodh flagged off a Tringa March in which all the school students and teachers participated.
Nand Public Kindergarten, a playway school at Durga Nagar celebrated Independence Day, in which teachers and students actively participated. Students namely Keshav, Kartik, Khushi, Aasmita, Harshita and Aaradya of primary classes delivered speeches. Little angels also participated in poster making, chart making, cap making and flag making competitions. Sujata, Principal and Parmjeet Singh, Managing Director of the institution were also present on the occasion who distributed prizes among the students. Rohini, Jullie, Seema and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
Spring Blossom’s Public School, Lakkar Mandi, Janipur celebrated Independence Day. Students presented variety of cultural programmes. Divya Gupta highlighted the importance of the day and asked the students to remember the sacrifices made by the freedom fighers.
HelpAge India, Jammu Office celebrated Independence Day with the inmates of Old Age Home, Ambphalla. The inmates of old age home were taken to Sai International School Jangchak Hiranagar. School Principal Shiv Kumar Shah along with staff members and school children welcome the inmates. A cultural programme was presented by students, followed by interaction of children with elders. Chairman of the school Saindas Gupta and Vice Chairman Sohan Lal Sharma, were also present on the occasion. Earlier, the tour was flagged off by Rajinder Kumar, a 91-year-old senior citizen of Old Age Home, Ambphalla.
