Include left out 4000 PoK DPs in PM Relief Package: JKSAC

JAMMU, Oct 7: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) urged upon Lt Governor Manoj K. Sinha to issue advisory to Secretary DMRRR to include the remaining, over 4,000 PoK DP families left out of the PM relief package of Rs 5.5 lakhs for want of mandatory requirements to establish the status of DP.
It demanded that certified supplementary records of these bonafide left-out DP families is available in PRO office and it should be considered in the mandatory list to allow them to avail the benefits of relief assistance provided under PMDP-2015.
Addressing the meeting of DPs held at Barsalpur RS Pura today, Gurdev Singh, president JKSAC along with Netar Parkash (Gen Secy), Dwarka Nath Khajuria and Bhagwan Singh said that the ex-gratia relief has been provided to 26,319 families of DPs from PoK. Out of which relief has been disbursed to nearly 20,000 families till date and about 1,000 cases are under process including the disputed cases. He said that out of 26,319 PoK DP families settled in Jammu region, nearly 5,000 families have not been considered for payment of relief for want of mandatory requirements which are either missing/torn or gone waste with the passage of time due to negligence of the concerned administration.
He said supplementary records of these families such as ration cards, mutation of their allotted lands, Jamabandies, copies of register cancellation and record of their native land in PoK is available with PRO office and in addition to this the records of their native lands in PoK is also available in record rooms of Poonch and Baramulla. The certified copies of native places can be obtained from these district headquarter.
JKSAC has raised this issue with the Govt at many occasion to list all the said supplementary records of left-out DPs in the mandatory list to allow them to avail the relief as they are the bonafide DPs. He said that they cannot be punished for the negligence of the administration for not keeping the records intact despite of repeated submission made from time to time from the past several decades. He said that after hard persuasion the Govt agreed in principle to accommodate left-out these bonafide DPs families for payment of the ex-gratia relief. He sought intervention of LG into the matter.
