JAMMU, Feb 8: An impressive Shoba Yatra was taken out on the eve of 640th birth anniversary of Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj here today.
A large number of devotees, drawn from different parts of Jammu participated in the Shoba Yatra and paid obeisance to Guru Ravi Dass. Scores of jhankis decorated on tractor trolleys formed the part of Shoba Yatra which started from Gurdwara Krishna Nagar.
The Shoba Yatra was organized by Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, J&K. The devotees attired in colorful costumes were dancing and reciting bhajans in praise of Guru on the drum beats.
Besides, the tractor trolleys and open jeeps, the devotees were riding on horse backs to maintain the tradition. People in large numbers had gathered enroute to greet the yatra. The portraits of Guru Ji were fully decorated on tractor trolleys befitting the occasion.
The people from all walks of life including men, women and children participated in the Shoba yatra. The Shoba yatra passed through Guru Ravi Dass Chowk, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, J P Chowk, Vivekananda Chowk, Gurudawara Sunder Singh road, Raghunath Mandir Chowk, City Chowk, Shalamar Hospital road, Indira Chowk, J P Chowk, Bhagat Singh Chowk , Dogra Chowk and finally culminated at Gurudwara Shree Guru Ravi Dass Maharaj, Krishna Nagar.
People enroute had installed the stalls to serve soft drinks, fruit etc to devotees participating in Shoba yatra.
After the culmination of Shoba Yatra the devotees were served Guru Ka Langer. The main function will be held on the birthday of Guru Ravi Dass Ji falling on February 10.
