JAMMU, Feb 17: An impressive Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra was taken out here today. The Yatra was organized by International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).
The yatra started from Kachi Chawni and it passed through various areas of Jammu city. A large number of devotees participated in the Rath Yatra. They were reciting bhajans, chanting Hare Rama Hare Krishna and dancing to drum beats in the praise of Lord Jagannath.
The chariot on which the Sawari of Lord was taken was fully decorated by the devotees and people enroute had made beelines to pay their obeisance to Lord. The chariot was being pulled by the devotees of Lord. The people enroute were seen showering flowers on the rath and the devotees.
The people had also erected welcome gates at various places to greet the yatra and the stalls were also installed to serve fruit and juice to devotees participating in the yatra.
It may be recalled that ISKCON is organizing this yatra in the City of Temples for last many years now to propagate the philosophy of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta among the people.
