UDHAMPUR, Mar 3: Udhampur Police today arrested a bootlegger and seized 42 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession.
The accused was intercepted by Police at Domail, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chenani. A Police party, led by SHO Ajit Singh, arrested the accused, namely Finu of Mantlai and recovered 42 pouches of J&K Excise (Desi Whisky) from his possession. He was transporting these pouches in a polythene carry bag for their illegal sale in his native village Mantalai.
In this connection, a case under section 48A Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani.
Meanwhile, in a similar success by the Katra Police, a bootlegger namely Kewal Singh of Chenani was arrested and 25 pouches of illicit liquor were seized from his possession.
