Illegal structures demolished in Pahalgam

SRINAGAR, Dec 6: In a swift action, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) demolished illegal structures and retrieved encroached land at Movera village of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PDA, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, told Excelsior that a team comprising of PDA demolition squad assisted by Municipal Committee Pahalgam, police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today demolished illegal structures at Movera raised by violators in clear violation of High Court orders.
He said that these structures were constructed on river buffer zone and were also unplanned. “Besides they were raised in violation of High Court orders,” he said, adding that the drive against the violators will continue. “We will reach them where they raise illegal structures. We have so far demolished dozens of structures raised illegally and registered scores of cases,” he added.
Meanwhile, in presence of Sub District Magistrate Pahalgam, the PDA retrieved around 3 kanals of land encroached upon by Tariq Ahmad, who is the son-in-law of former minister and Congress leader, Taj Mohidiun, sources said here.
