Illegal parking of vehicles

Sir,
With the rise in the standard of living, easy loans offered by the banks and increase in the purchase power of the customers and expansion of road network in our state over the last few years, the number of vehicles is increasing  in big cities and towns with each passing day.But the worst part of it is that many owners donot have parking space for their vehicles with the result that the vehicles, especially cars and light load carriers, are often parked on the roadside, sometimes on both sides of roads and lanes, thus encroaching on the public space making it difficult for other drivers to drive and pedestrians to walk . In some cases  fatal accidents are caused due to the illegal parking on the roads in gross violation to MV Act.It is not an uncommon sight to see scores of vehicles having been  parked on the roads and even bylanes in the morning, evening and even at night due to the  lack of proper parking facility offered by the Government  or availlable with the owners of the vehicles. All this leads to congestion and inconvenience to the common man.But the administration and RTO/ARTO seem to behave as mute spectators to this sorry state of affairs. It is pertinent to mention here that there are heavy penalities in advanced countries for such offences as illegal parking, drunken driving , keeping the car dirty, absence of breath analyser in the car etc.
Therefore, steps should be taken to implement the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act in respect of parking of vehicles. It should be made mandatory for the purchaser of every new vehicle  to produce an affidavit that the parking space is available in his/her premises. Those parking vehicles on the roads, leading to accidents need to be heavily fined. The rules of road need to be observed by one and all and slackness on the part of the concerned officers and traffic police should be seriously viewed and appropriate action taken. After all why should a common man suffer because of the laxity of the traffic police and other agencies entrusted with the task of checking road offences  under their jurisdiction.
Yours etc…
