Illegal gold recovered

JAMMU, July 19: In an act of alertness and prompt action, Manwal Police recovered illegal gold weighing 2.376 kilograms.
As per police sources, a team from Police Post Manwal led by Inspector Vikram Singh Jasrotia while on naka duty at Nadaal intercepted a vehicle coming from Samba side.
During search, the co- passenger namely Rizwan Rashid, son of Abdul Rashid of Kashmir was found in possession of gold ornaments and gold coins of very high value.
On questioning, the said person was unable to provide the bills of the gold he was carrying and was not able to give satisfactory answer with respect to the high value gold.
On this, the State Tax Department was informed and a team led by Taxation Officer Ashwani Kumar came on spot, enquired about the gold ornaments and coins, weighed them and found the total weight of the gold ornaments and gold coins as 2 kg 376.05 grams.
The recoveries were made under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh.
On the basis of the discrepancies in gold bills, a penalty of Rs 11,72,242 had been imposed on the person carrying gold.
