Illegal cultivation of poppy destroyed

RAJOURI, May 6: Continuing its efforts to keep a check on the peddling of narcotics and other allied substances, the police has destroyed an illegal cultivation of poppy straw from a field in Hayatpura village of Manjakote in Rajouri district.
An information was received from reliable source that a person namely, Ajaz Ahmed Khan, son of Mohammad Sarwar, resident of Suka Kass Mohalla of Hayatpura village   has cultivated poppy plants (opium) illegally in his agriculture land in an area of about 600 square feet.
On this information, a case FIR No. 38/2019 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act was registered in Manjakote Police Station and a team of police headed by SDPO Manjakote, Nisar Khoja along with Tehsildar Manjakote, Sagheer Chowdhary and SHO Manjakote, Manzoor Kohli  as well as concerned  Patwari reached on the spot for investigation where the illegal crop of poppy plants was found cultivated on field.
After completion of all the legal formalities, the crop was destroyed on the spot. The  Police team has also started search to nab the accused in this case.
