Ill-planning of relief package puts PoK DPs in further trauma: Chuni

JAMMU, Sept 3: Chairman of SOS International- an organisation of PoK Displaced Persons, Rajiv Chuni has alleged that ill-planning of relief execution has further added to the woes of PoK DPs.

Addressing a gathering of DPs at Rehari here today Rajiv Chuni said that political parties had been using the PoK DPs as their vote bank since long. During elections, they were shown green pastures by these political parties. But after elections are over these parties, used to get disappear.
Amid sloganeering against Government and political parties over keeping anti-PoK DPs stand, a large number of Displaced Persons endorsed the stand of SOS International and condemned such political parties who have been playing with the sentiments of PoK DPs the last seven decades.
castigated Government over keeping snail’s pace for disbursing the ex-gratia relief amount, adding that on November 7, 2015 Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had announced the ex-gratia relief package for PoK DPs during his visit to Kashmir. He further said that out of 36,884 only 2000 PoK DPs families have got the said relief amount till now. “If the pace of disbursing relief amount among PoK DPs moves-on in such speed, it will take nearly 18 more years to complete the task it”, he added.
“Allocation of ex-gratia relief amount among PoK DPs has become chaotic due to ill- planning and execution as it seems being taken up deliberately because at every point PoK DPs are being harassed. PoK DPs seem to have become helpless as they are not getting certified copies of documents to stake claim of their legal relief due to this, their case files are not getting cleared for the approval. Due to this, PoK DPs are again put in trauma and it is all happening due to step motherly approach of Government, ” he added.
