JAMMU, Apr 24: Renao- the annual cultural fest by the students of IIT Jammu began today with virtual inaugural ceremony and presenting Prof S K Jain Leadership Award.
The annual cultural fest, Renao with the theme ‘Virtually Vivified’, will give a platform to the students to showcase their talents in the fields of Arts, Literature, Dance, Dramatics, Music, Photography and Filming.
On the occasion, Abhishek Kumar Gupta and Vaidehi Som, 4th-year students of IIT Jammu were conferred with the prestigious Prof S K Jain Leadership Award.
This award was introduced last year to honour those young minds who have shown incredible commitment in leading the student community towards a path of excellence. The Award has been coined after Padmashri Awardee Director, IIT Gandhinagar, Prof S K. Jain, who is known to be one of the most respected leaders of academia in India’s IIT system.
Prof Jain awarded the winners and delivered a motivating lecture on Leadership followed by an interesting discussion with the students. He encouraged the leaders of tomorrow to work with a problem-solving mindset with an emphasis on clear communication and trust building.
Earlier, Prof Manoj Singh Gaur, Director-IIT Jammu delivered a message on the importance of leadership and introduced the students to Padamshri Prof Sudhir K Jain, Director- IIT Gandhinagar.
Prof Dinesh Pandya, Dean, Student Affairs introduced the award to the audience while Dr Vijay Kumar Pal announced Abhishek Kumar Gupta and Vaidehi Som as the winners.
Every year, Prof Sudhir K Jain Leadership Award is given to a student who demonstrates exemplary leadership skills and engages meticulously in institute-building activities and works with an approach to serve the society. Akash Keshav Singh, alumni, IIT Gandhinagar, planted the seed of presenting this award to motivate students.
It is important to note that the students of IIT Jammu organized three student festivals this month in online mode.
