2 timber smugglers arrested

Srinagar Apr 24: Police in Budgam today said to have arrested two timber smugglers and seized illicit timber being carried on four horses.
A police spokesperson said that during the intervening night of 23/24 April, acting on specific information about timber smuggling, a special checkpoint was established at Sugen Bathipora forest area of Khag.
“The police party intercepted and arrested two persons carrying illicit timber on four horses. They have been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Khan son of Abdul Gaffar Khan and Abdul Rashid Malik son of Mohammad Abdullah, both the residents of Shonglipora Khag,” police said.
Both the arrested persons have been shifted to the Police Station. The four horses used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
A case FIR No. 15/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khag and investigation has been initiated.
