JAMMU, Aug 6: IIT Jammu celebrated its 5th Foundation Day today by organizing an online event to highlight the benchmarks of institute building and progress.
Prof V Ramgopal Rao, Director of IIT Delhi, and Prof Anil Kakodkar, Padma Vibhushan awardee and former Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre were present as invited speakers.
The event commenced with an address by the Director of IIT Jammu, Prof M S Gaur, who shared his vision for the growth of the Institute.
Prof D K Pandya, former Professor-in-Charge of IIT Jammu, highlighted his experiences and the contributions of students towards setting up operations at the newly founded institute under the mentorship of IIT Delhi.
Prof Rao, in his talk entitled “Connecting Academic R&D with Product Innovation”, spoke about the process of growing an educational institution into a fertile space for nurturing young talent towards solving societal problems and promote national development.
Prof Kakodkar emphasized on the key aspects of some of the most successful higher educational institutions across the world while discussing the future of India’s educational infrastructure.
The students of IIT Jammu actively participated in the celebrations through stirring musical performances along with an original composition called “Jeetenge Hum”.
After a series of stimulating talks, Prof Kannan Iyer concluded the event with a vote of thanks marked by a note of resolve to take IIT Jammu to new heights of becoming an exemplary educational institution.
